Make QR codes from ChatGPT, Codex or Claude Code.
Connect your assistant to QRVisual’s hosted MCP service and generate static QR images in chat. No app install or local QR server is required.
Privacy: unlike QRVisual’s browser generator, this integration sends QR content to the QRVisual MCP endpoint solely to create the image. The endpoint does not retain QR payloads or use a database. Do not put passwords, payment credentials, or other highly sensitive information in any QR code.
Connection URL
https://qrvisual.com/api/mcp/
Use the HTTPS URL above whenever your assistant asks for a remote MCP server URL. The endpoint supports the generate_qr tool and returns a PNG image in the tool result.
Download the Claude plugin
For Claude’s Upload a plugin screen, download the ZIP below. It includes the QRVisual connector and a QR creation skill; the QR service itself runs on QRVisual’s Hostinger website.
Download QRVisual plugin for Claude (.zip)- In Claude, go to Customize → Plugins → Add → Upload plugin and choose the downloaded ZIP.
- Open the installed QRVisual plugin’s Connectors tab and add/connect the QRVisual connector if prompted.
- Ask Claude to make a QR code for a URL or another supported type.
Connect ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors and turn on developer mode if your plan/workspace allows it.
- Choose Add custom MCP (or Create plugin), paste the connection URL above, then test it.
- In a new chat, ask:
Use QRVisual to create a URL QR code for https://qrvisual.com/.
Custom connections are for your own testing. A public ChatGPT directory listing requires a separate review and approval process.
Connect Codex
Run this once in a terminal:
codex mcp add qrvisual --url https://qrvisual.com/api/mcp/
codex mcp list
Start a new Codex chat and ask it to use QRVisual to create a QR code.
Connect Claude Code
Claude Code can use the downloadable plugin too. If you only want the hosted connection, add it with:
claude mcp add --transport http qrvisual https://qrvisual.com/api/mcp/
claude mcp list
QR types supported
URL, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, vCard, text, email, SMS, phone, UPI, social profile, rating/review, public PDF, event, and location. QR codes are static. Always verify UPI recipient and amount before sharing.
Generated QR images appear as tool results in compatible MCP clients. QRVisual makes no payment or destination claims—always scan and verify a code before sharing or paying.
