How to Create and Check a UPI QR Code Before Sharing

Quick answer: Enter the UPI ID exactly as shown by your payment provider, add the intended payee name and optional amount, then inspect the exported image. A QRVisual payment image encodes a payment request; it does not verify the account, confirm receipt or replace your provider’s merchant onboarding and transaction records.
A payment sign needs more than an attractive pattern. The encoded account details, the printed label and the destination shown by a payment app must make sense together. Treat the final QR as payment artwork that needs checking before it reaches customers.
This guide explains QRVisual’s UPI fields and verification limits. Your bank or payment provider remains the source for account setup, merchant facilities, transaction status, charges and support. If you need provider-issued merchant features, use the QR and workflow supplied by that provider.
Start with your provider’s account details
Copy the UPI ID from the account you intend to receive payments into. Do not guess a handle from a business name, reuse a sample ID or rely on a printed label as proof of ownership. NPCI describes UPI as a payment system; a standalone image generator does not establish a verified payment account.
Confirm which account and business location the sign belongs to. If several branches or staff members prepare artwork, keep an approved account-detail record with an owner who can review changes.
Understand the fields in the generator
| Field | What to check |
|---|---|
| UPI ID / payment handle | The actual receiving handle from your provider |
| Business or payee name | The intended readable label; it is not account verification |
| Amount | Whether the code should request a specific amount or leave it open |
| Currency | The current tool uses Indian rupees (INR) |
| Payment note | A short purpose that remains appropriate wherever the image is used |
QRVisual encodes a UPI payment link from these inputs and creates a downloadable card. It does not contact a bank to verify the receiving handle, and changing the payee-name label does not change who owns the account behind the handle.
Create and inspect the export
- Open the UPI QR generator.
- Replace every demonstration detail with the approved account information.
- Choose an optional amount only when that amount fits the intended use.
- Review the payment note and the visible card label.
- Download the final image.
- Decode the image with the QR scanner to inspect the receiving handle and other encoded fields.
Decoding is an artwork check, not a transfer or proof that a bank will accept the request. Do not enter a UPI PIN or other account secret into a QR generator or scanner.
How do I create and share a UPI payment link?
A UPI payment link contains the same payment request as the QR image. In the UPI payment link generator, enter the receiving handle and payee label, optionally set an amount and note, then use Copy beside Share payment link. Paste it into a message before sending so you can inspect it.
- Replace the demonstration handle with your own provider-approved UPI ID.
- Choose the amount deliberately. A blank amount creates an open-amount request; a supplied amount is included in the link.
- Copy the complete value beginning
upi://pay?. Do not remove query fields or shorten it by hand. - Check the link on a compatible phone with a UPI app. Inspect the beneficiary and amount; checking the request does not require authorising a transfer.
- If any field changes, copy a newly generated link and replace the old message or template where you control it.
Why does the UPI link fail on my laptop?
This is an app link, not an HTTPS checkout webpage. A desktop browser or an app without a UPI handler may not open it. Share the QR image as another route for a compatible phone. QRVisual does not provide a hosted checkout page, account verification or payment confirmation.
For a printed sign, use the print-proof checklist. For an unreadable image versus a link that will not open, follow the scan-or-destination troubleshooting steps.
Check the payment-app view independently
Use your provider’s normal process to verify the account and payment route. Before a payer authorizes any transfer, the payee and amount displayed by the payment app should be checked. Follow the provider’s guidance when the app shows unexpected details or cannot resolve the handle.
Never treat a screenshot, success-looking message on another person’s phone or the mere presence of a QR as confirmation that money reached your account. Verify receipt in your own bank or payment-provider transaction record. QRVisual has no access to that record.
For a shop counter, tell staff which approved transaction view to check and who handles mismatches. Keep payment confirmation separate from the task of printing or replacing the sign.
Choose a fixed amount or an open amount deliberately
A printed fixed-amount code can be useful for a single advertised purpose, but it can become wrong when a price changes. An open-amount code needs the payer and staff to confirm the intended total through the normal checkout process.
Do not assume a payment app will prevent an amount being edited or apply your sales rules. The image generator does not calculate tax, maintain an order ledger or reconcile individual purchases. Use your provider’s checkout tools when those features matter.
Approve the physical sign
Print one proof using the final dimensions and material. Keep the full clear margin, avoid placing the code on a fold and check the visible payee label. For payment signs, a plain high-contrast code is easier to establish as a baseline than a heavily decorated design.
Store the source details, approved image and review date together. If the receiving handle, amount or note changes, generate a replacement and remove outdated artwork from all counters and digital templates. Check displayed signs periodically for damage or an unexpected replacement sticker.
Common questions
Does the generator verify my UPI ID?
No. It formats the details you enter. Confirm account details and merchant requirements with your bank or payment provider.
Can QRVisual confirm that a payment arrived?
No. Check your own bank or provider’s transaction record. The static image does not receive payment-status callbacks.
Is this the same as a provider-issued merchant QR?
Do not assume equivalent onboarding, branding, settlement or reporting features. Use your provider’s merchant solution when those features are required.
