How to Make a QR Code with a Logo That Still Scans
Quick answer: Create the QR first, add a small logo, keep a clear border, then scan the exported image. A recognizable logo is useful only when the code remains easy to read.
Build the destination before the design
Start with the complete HTTPS address of the page you want to share. Open it yourself before copying it into the QR code generator. A logo cannot fix a mistyped link, a private page or a destination that no longer exists. For a social profile, choose the network in the social QR tool; its platform mark appears automatically. A custom uploaded image replaces that mark.
Add your logo in QRVisual
- Enter your link and check the live preview.
- Open Logo & label and choose an image smaller than 2 MB. A simple square mark usually reads better than a wide company wordmark.
- Open Advanced and choose a suitable error-correction level. Social codes start with High; other types can be adjusted.
- Keep the foreground dark, the background light and the margin at Standard or Wide.
- Download PNG or SVG, and test that exact file before placing it in a layout.
What error correction does—and does not—promise
DENSO WAVE documents four correction levels. Higher levels add recovery data and can make the symbol denser. The published percentages concern codewords; they are not a guarantee that you can cover the same percentage of the picture with a logo. Keep the design modest and test the finished result.
A practical artwork checklist
Use a compact, recognizable mark with little fine lettering. Keep the three large corner patterns unobstructed. Avoid placing a second logo, border or caption inside the clear space around the QR. When resizing in a design application, scale the whole image proportionally. Do not crop off white edges to make it fit.
For a printed card, use the print-size checklist. For an email signature or screen, export a PNG large enough for the intended layout rather than enlarging a tiny screenshot. If the design stops scanning, return to classic squares, remove the logo temporarily and compare the results.
Can a branded QR be free and static?
Yes. Adding a logo does not turn a QR into a dynamic service. QRVisual embeds your destination in the downloaded image without a signup or watermark. Editing the URL later requires a new static code; see static versus dynamic QR codes before printing a large batch.
Keep the original link and exported artwork together in your project folder. If you later change a social username or move a landing page, review the printed codes that still point to the old destination.
