How to make multiple QR codes from a CSV file

Quick answer: make a UTF-8 CSV with name, type, content columns, upload it to the QRVisual bulk QR generator, review the rows, then download a ZIP of PNG QR codes. The CSV is processed in your browser.

A batch is useful when each label, table, badge, or document needs its own link or message. QRVisual currently supports URL and plain text rows, up to 100 data rows per CSV. It creates static QR codes: the encoded value cannot be edited after export, and QRVisual does not provide scan analytics for them.

1. Prepare the spreadsheet

Use three columns in this exact order: name, type, and content. Keep the first row as the header. Each name should be unique so its image has a recognizable filename. Enter url for a website link or text for a short message. For a URL, use the full destination including https:// and check that it opens before you generate a code.

name,type,content
front-menu,url,https://example.com/menu
table-12,url,https://example.com/table/12
welcome-note,text,"Welcome, scan this at the entrance"

When a value contains a comma, wrap that cell in double quotes, as shown in the last row. Download the QRVisual sample CSV if you want a ready-made starting point. Save or export your sheet as a UTF-8 .csv file rather than an Excel workbook.

2. Upload, review, and download

  1. Open the free bulk QR tool and choose your CSV file.
  2. Check the row preview. Fix any invalid or unexpected values in your spreadsheet, save a fresh CSV, and upload it again.
  3. Select Generate ZIP. Your browser creates a PNG QR image for each accepted row and packages the images into one ZIP file.
  4. Extract the ZIP and inspect the filenames. Keep the original spreadsheet so you can trace each code back to its destination later.

The CSV parsing, image generation, and ZIP creation happen on your device. QRVisual does not receive the spreadsheet or the contents of those QR codes. This is different from sending a request through the optional AI-assistant integration.

3. Test before printing

Scan a sample from the downloaded PNG files, not just the on-screen preview. Confirm that each URL reaches the intended page and each text code contains the correct message. For a larger batch, spot-check the first, middle, and last rows, plus any rows with commas or non-English characters. You can use a phone camera or the QR image scanner. Before mass printing, test the final size and surface; our print checklist explains contrast and quiet zones.

Common CSV problems

When is a single QR better?

Use the single QR code maker when you want to tune color, pattern, logo, label, export size, or SVG output for one design. Use the CSV workflow when you need many straightforward URL or text PNG codes quickly. Neither static option changes the encoded destination after download; see static vs dynamic QR codes if editability is a requirement.
